From September 2023 to May 2024, the mountain station of the Dachstein glacier lift, which has been in operation since 1969 and is located at an altitude of 2,700 metres, underwent a comprehensive renovation and modernisation. The focus of the sustainable all-round renovation under the motto ‘Energy Crystal’ was particularly on the photovoltaic cladding with a total of 633 m² of modules with an annual output of 100,000 kWh, with which the mountain station can cover up to 80% of its own energy requirements, the restaurant with a 280-degree view and seating for 200, as well as the new ‘sky bar’ on the top level of the building. An average of 70 workers, a special tower crane and an assembly helicopter were deployed on Austria's highest construction site - a pioneering achievement of a special kind for the planning and construction companies.
